The substance of the method of pre-growing seedlings is in the arrangement of rooting spaces (100) into a planar or spatial spiral of a segmented rooter (10) which is connected to a shaped wall (10.81), and fixed in its shape by a fixing element (10.7). After being filled with growth medium, advantageously from the centre towards the perimeter, and after the germination/rooting in of seeds, cuttings or offshoots, the rooting spaces (100) are opened by the movement of the segmented rooter in the opposite direction to that in which it was wound up into spiral. The result is intact root packs. The segmented rooter (10) comprises a set of segments (10.1), pivotably connected one to another, fitted with a spacing support (10.5) and a rib (10.4), which fits into the slot (10.6) on the spacing support (10.5) of another segment. The device for the transplantation of seedlings into soil comprises a frame (5) with a mounted drive (30), a winder (80) and a feeder (70) which are mutually interconnected by a primary and/or secondary endless driving element (2.1), while the segmented rooter (10) is housed in a shiftable, springy and rotary fashion.
