There is provided a more compensating secondary sealing system for misalignments that inevitably occur in sealing subsurface valves, particularly subsurface safety valves. A sealing system can include a dynamic sealing system (51) and a static sealing system (50), where the static sealing system (50) establishes one or more line contact surfaces (82, 88). The line contact surfaces (82, 88) can be leading, in that the forward edge of the seal faces a corresponding engagement portion (114) of the actuator (36). The actuator (36) can include at least two spherical engagement portions where one of the spherical engagement portions (114) engages resilient and non-resilient seals (76, 62) with line contact surfaces (82, 88) on a downstroke and the other spherical engagement portion (not shown) engages resilient and non-resilient seals with line contact surfaces on an upstroke. Further, a bearing (73) disposed above seals on a piston (40) of the actuator (36) assists in keeping contaminants out of the seal area of the piston (40).
|
