Method for monitoring hydraulic, pneumatic and or electrical control systems, especially for the components of a motor vehicle drive train in which monitoring software is run in parallel to control software, with the monitoring software using a model of the control system to simulate it partially or completely in real time. Accordingly the control system outputs for the last possible actuator controls are read back and evaluated by the test software. If an error is detected, safety and or replacement functions are initiated.
