The pressure unit has at least one movably suspended pressure roller (554.2) for installation in a device for processing items (100) similar to valuable documents. Repelling forces are exerted on the pressure rollers towards the other elements (552.2), against which the items similar to valuable documents are pressed, by at least one reversibly compressible damping element (558). AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a transport unit for items similar to valuable documents (b) and a device for processing items similar to valuable documents.
