A blind rivet comprises a tubular body (18) having a flange (20) at an end, and a mandrel (30) having a stem (32) and a head (34). The head (34) of the mandrel (30) has a conical shoulder (38) between an outer diameter of the head (34) and the stem (32). The stem (32) has a weakened region (42) immediately adjacent the conical shoulder (38).
