PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a harmful heavy metal removing method which enables the easy and efficient removal of harmful heavy metals from wastewater containing the harmful heavy metals and a harmful heavy metal removing apparatus. SOLUTION: In the harmful heavy metal removing method for removing harmful heavy metals from wastewater L containing the harmful heavy metal, wastewater L is subjected to hydrothermal reaction to form treated water L2 containing a solid component S of the harmful heavy metals and the solid component S is removed from this treated water L2. After the treated water L2 is formed, it is separated by using a gas-liquid separator 4 to form a liquid L3 containing the solid component S and the formed liquid L3 is separated by a solid-liquid separator 5 to obtain the solid component S, which is, in turn, removed to remove harmful heavy metals from the wastewater L.
