DIFFERENTIAL OUTPUT BURST MODE OPTICAL RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burst mode optical receiver having a differential output configuration.

SOLUTION: The optical receiver comprises a preamplifier for converting a current indicating a burst mode signal into a voltage signal; a minimum value level detection part for detecting a minimum value level of output signals from the preamplifier, a maximum value level detection part for detecting the maximum value of the output signals from the preamplifier; an automatic gain control part, connected to the minimum value level detection part and for controlling automatically the gain of the output signals from the minimum value level so as not to occur distortions of the output signals from the preamplifier; a pair of resisters, of which each one end is connected to the minimum value level detection part and maximum value level detection part and of which the other ends are mutually connected to generate a signal reference voltage; and a differential buffer for being input the reference voltage generated from the pair of the resisters and removing offsets generated from the minimum and maximum value level detection parts.
