PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform wired transmission of low power consumption normally and to perform wireless transmission when data transmission exceeding the arriving range of a cord is required. SOLUTION: The data transmission system comprises a data transfer cord 1 for connecting a music player with a headphone, parts 2a and 2b for separating a transmission cord into one and the other cords and connecting them removably, wireless communication means provided in the music player and the headphone, respectively, a means for detecting separation/connection of the transmission cord, and a means for making a switch from wired transmission to wireless transmission when separation of the transmission cord is detected.
