<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of laying a submarine cable, which can prevent human errors when a user operates an auxiliary winch for performing the supply and winding of the wire for adjusting the position in water of a diving weight. <P>SOLUTION: The diving weight, which is attached movably to a wire rope for advance of a construction boat for laying a submarine cable is controlled automatically in a proper position by a computer. The reference depth Ha of the diving weight is set, and this reference depth Ha and the actual sinking depth H<SB>1</SB>measured are compared with each other. The auxiliary winch is operated to keep the reference depth Ha by making the computer issue a command to supply the wire at the time of H<SB>1</SB><Ha and issue a command to wind up the wire at the time of H<SB>1</SB>>Ha. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
