PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict a focus bias value to be set so as to avoid occurrence of irregular tracking servo during focus bias adjustment. SOLUTION: This optical disk unit is provided with: a means for making a focus error signal fall within a range of not higher than a prescribed level and setting a tracking error signal to be in a range of not lower than the prescribed level; a first focus bias adjusting means for setting the range of a focus bias value in the state of closing a focus servo and not closing a tracking servo loop; and a second focus bias adjusting means for detecting the focus bias value meeting a prescribed jitter quantity or a prescribed reproduction signal, etc., in the state of closing the focus servo and the tracking servo group.
