<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate encoded stereoscopic image data which are reduced in volume. <P>SOLUTION: A stereoscopic image encoding device encodes a plurality of image data corresponding to two points of view. The image encoding device includes an input right-image generating section 103 and an input left-image generating section 104 which generate four pieces of image information, by respectively dividing image data photographed by means of cameras 101 and 102 into image data at even- and odd-numbered positions in the horizontal direction and the two horizontally divided image data into image data at even- and odd-numbered positions in the vertical direction; first to n-th image coupling sections 105-107 which generate four pieces of coupling image information, by coupling the four pieces of image information correspondingly to the points of view; and first to n-th encoding sections 108-110 which generate four bit streams by encoding the four pieces of coupling image information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
