<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission reception method, a transmission circuit, and a reception circuit for a compressed image signal capable of remarkably reducing the data transmission amount so as to realize high speed communication and a small power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The compressed image signal transmission reception method is characterized in that an object extraction unit 5 extracts an image signal of an object different from a background in an area particularized by the area information sent from a receiver side from a current image signal and a background image signal being the output of a background image memory 4, a discrete cosine transform unit 1 applies discrete cosine transform to the image signal of the object, a quantization unit 2 quantizes the resulting signal, a variable length encoder 3 encodes the quantized signal, and the encoded signal is transmitted to the receiver side as the compressed image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
