<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for setting a touch panel pressure threshold. <P>SOLUTION: In this touch panel pressure threshold setting method, a plurality of touches are performed at setting the touch panel pressure threshold to obtain a plurality of pressure values. Then, the obtained pressure values are averaged to obtain a mean pressure value. Finally, the mean pressure value itself or a value obtained by multiplying the obtained mean pressure value by a certain multiple is used as the pressure threshold. Furthermore, at the time of using the resistance type touch panel, the above mentioned pressure value can be expressed by a contact resistance value.
