The ball head coupling has a housing (1) containing a coupling element (3) and a control lever (6) which is pivoted relative to the housing under control of an attached operating handle (10) for operation of the coupling element. The coupling element is acted on by a bias element, with a safety latch provided by a bolt (17), released before the operating handle can move the control lever for releasing the coupling, via a manually-operated Bowden cable (19).
