1284947 Erythrocyte preparation; immunological reagent ABBOTT LABORATORIES 5 May 1970 [27 May 1969] 21681/70 Addition to 1244344 Heading B1X An aqueous erythrocyte preparation which can be lyophilized and reconstituted for use comprises a suspension of 0.1% to 10% by volume erythrocytes which have been pretreated with (a) a minor volume of pyruvic aldehyde relative to their volume, and (b) a minor volume of formaldehyde relative to their volume, the suspension also containing 0.1% to 1% by weight blood serum albumin and 5% to 30% by weight of sucrose, lactose or a mixture thereof. The erythrocytes may be rabbit, rat, pigeon, sheep, chicken or human cells. The serum albumin may be bovine, rabbit or chicken. The erythrocytes to be used in the preparation may be stored in pretreated form, before or after coating with antigen and/or potentiation as in Parent Specification. In an Example the pretreated erythrocytes are coated with bovine serum albumin before use in the preparation. |
