PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the trouble of a battery driven printer that print operation is interrupted due to use up of the residual capacity of a battery after starting print operation consuming power significantly even if the residual capacity of the battery is present before starting print of image data. SOLUTION: Prior to starting print operation, the quantity of power required for printing is predicted by analyzing image data (S3) and compared with the information of the residual capacity of the battery (S5, S7). Printing is started, as it is, if the residual capacity is sufficient (S9) but not started if it is insufficient and deficiency of the residual capacity is alarmed (S11). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
