The method has a number of contactable switching devices (K1,K2,KN), e.g. push-button switches, connected in series, each switching device connected in parallel with a respective current reflector (SSa1,SSa2,SSaN) provided by a voltage divider, the current reflector output signal (iSa1,iSa2,iSaN) indicating the contacting of the corresponding switching device, used for provision of a digital output signal (Vout1,Vout2,VoutN).
