<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion type pipe joint enabling easy insertion of a pipe with the inner diameter being the minimum within a tolerance or of an obliquely cut pipe, and also to provide a method of inserting the pipe into the insertion type pipe joint. <P>SOLUTION: A tapered ring 22 to be pushed into the inner depth of a joint body 1 as pushed by the pipe P at one end is fitted between a portion of the joint body 1 axially outward from an elastic seal ring 2 on the outer periphery of an inner cylinder 5 and the inner periphery of a hollow shaft 15 of a collet 4. As the tapered ring 22 has a frontward expanding taper 24 with the minimum inner diameter set to be not larger than the reference inner diameter of the pipe, the elastic seal ring 2 is held smaller than the inner diameter of the pipe by the tapered ring 22 when the pipe P with the inner diameter being the minimum within the tolerance is inserted therein, resulting in ease of insertion. The tapered ring 22 has the frontward expanding taper 24 formed all over the length from the front end to the rear end of the inner periphery face for improving the flexibility. Thus, even when the obliquely cut pipe P is inserted therein, the tapered ring 22 is flexibly moved along an obliquely cut end face C of the obliquely cut pipe P, resulting in easy insertion with no gap to the obliquely cut end face C of the pipe P. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
