METHOD FOR OPERATING REDOX FLOW BATTERY AND REDOX FLOW BATTERY CELL STACK

A method for operating a redox flow battery. The charged state of the battery can be correctly grasped and the output capacity can be stabilized. This method is used for operating a redox flow battery comprising a cell stack (1) made up of a plurality of cells. One or a part of the cells of the cell stack (1) into/out of which positive/negative electrode electrolytes are supplied/exhausted are normally not connected to a DC/AC converter (225) and used as auxiliary cells (2) for measuring the charged states of the electrolytes. Stop of charging or discharging of main cells (3) is controlled by a circuit voltage obtained from this auxiliary cells (2). The integral incorporation of the auxiliary cells (2) in the cell stack (1) enables a correct grasp of the charged state without stopping the current supply to the main cells (3). Stop of charging or discharging of the main cells (3) is controlled by a measured circuit voltage, so that the output capacity stabilizes.
