PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein there is no conventional means to facilitate a determination of whether frozen food has thawed in storage or in transportation and refrozen or not, to make it difficult to control quality of the frozen food and assure that it has not thawed on the way. SOLUTION: A platelike thawing indicator, wherein on a colored and frozen platelike material, differently colored ribbonlike materials are placed, which are both integrally sealed in transparent sealing materials, is attached to frozen food. If thawing starts with increasing temperature, the colors change naturally as the shapes change. Even refreezing can not recover the changes. The materials are sufficient for a determination of whether there is a history of thawing by a temperature rise or not to form a means for quality control of the frozen food. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
