The system to lay multi-axial yarn or filament layers (11) to be fixed in place at a needle bar, especially at a warp knitter, has two longitudinal carrier chains (1) with the yarns/filaments between them. Each chain has a needle bed (2) with two rows of needles, where the second needle row (4) is angled outwards and lower than the first needle row (3). The needle bed is angled downwards, between the needle rows, to deposit the yarns/filaments (5) with a friction contact. A racking grid (6), fitted with teeth, is closely outside the second needle row at the transport chain to press the yarns/filaments of the layer behind the second needles in a longitudinal direction at each chain.
