<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give the sufficient tension to an endless transmission belt with an automatic tensioner, while securing durability of the endless transmission belt, when using a motor-generator as a starter motor. <P>SOLUTION: When the idle stop condition of an engine is satisfied, reverse torque is temporarily generated in the motor generator to loosen the belt, and in the condition that the automatic tensioner is drawn, a solenoid of a control valve is excited to lock the automatic tensioner impossible to be shrunken. Since the motor-generator is driven as a starter motor to start the engine in this condition, the generation of slip of the belt is prevented to start the engine surely. After starting the engine, the solenoid extinguished makes the automatic tensioner freely retractable to prevent the lowering of durability of the belt. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
