METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTRODE WIRE FOR WIRE ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINING AND APPARATUS USED FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining which enables adjustment of each layer thickness of a base material of the electrode line to an arbitrary layer thickness by applying diameter reduction processing to a composite material. SOLUTION: This method to produce the electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining comprises the steps of applying diameter reduction processing to the composite material 21 composed of a core material 22 made of Cu or Cu alloy, a Zn layer 23 to be formed around the core material 22, and a Cu-Zn layer 24 to be formed around the Zn layer 23 to form a base material 31 of the electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining; applying wire drawing processing to the base material 31 of the electrode line. The composite material 21 is rolled to reduce diameter so as to equalize or almost equalize the layer thickness ratio of the Zn layer 23 and the Cu-Zn layer 24 of the composite material 21 to that of the Zn layer 33 and the Cu-Zn layer 34 of the base material 31 of the electrode line for wire electric discharge machining.
