PURPOSE: A video display device having a frame function and a method for controlling the video display device are provided to display a still image using a memory of a display even when the main body of the display device is powered off. CONSTITUTION: A video display device includes a video signal processor(22) for processing a video signal to provide the signal to a display(24), and a frame function select signal input unit(26) through which a frame function select signal for storing the current picture is inputted. The video display device further includes a microcomputer(23) for controlling blocks constructing the display device and controlling storage and output of the current picture when the frame function select signal is inputted, and a video signal storage unit(25) for storing video data of a picture selected by a user. The display displays the video signal output from the video signal processor and, when a synchronous signal and video data are not inputted in the case that the frame function is selected, displays a still picture using the video data stored in the video signal storage unit. |
