<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical apparatus which achieves accurate covering and easier handling. <P>SOLUTION: A safety needle assembly has a needle hub and a needle cannula projecting from the needle hub. Wing parts protrude transversely from the needle hub to facilitate manipulation and the positioning of the needle assembly. A shield member is hingedly attached to the needle hub and can be rotated from a first position where the needle cannula is exposed to a second position where the needle cannula is shielded. At least one latch may be disposed on the shield member for securing locked engagement with the hub and the tube extending from the wing parts and/or the tubing extending from the hub.
