摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining method using a twin opposed-spindle lathe enabling both rotation about Y-axis and Y-axis feed and containing a rotary tool driving mechanism, which method can efficiently perform D-cut work, flattening work such as four side facing, six side facing, or grooving of circumference of the work periphery in a tangential direction. SOLUTION: The lathe is provided with a tool driving shaft 25 simultaneously-rotating both rotary tools 23 oppositely installed in 180-degree positions on a turret head 21. Both normal and reverse rotational tools 23L, 23R are installed opposite to each other by 180-degrees, on the turret head an indexing rotable shaft 22 of the turret head is directed in the X-axis direction, and these tools 23L, 23R are simultaneously driven to simultaneously machine of works 5L, 5R held by the two spindles. The reverse rotational tool 23R is installed in a tool shaft 31 in a reverse direction or is installed via a tool holder 32 transmitting with the tool shaft 31 reversely-rotated.
