摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode used as a negative electrode of a sealed nickel-hydrogen secondary battery and in which internal pressure of a battery can does not rise excessively by high rate charging and manufacture of the same. SOLUTION: Manufacture of the hydrogen storage alloy electrode has a process P1 for preparing hydrogen storage alloy powder of CaCu5 type crystal structure containing rare earth elements and transition metal elements and a process P2 for treating surface treatment to alloy grain by dipping the prepared alloy powder into acid solution in which rare earth compound is dissolved and a process P3 for molding the surface treated alloy powder in electrode shape and preparing the hydrogen storage alloy electrode. A layer on which the rare earth elements is enriched is formed on a surface layer part of the hydrogen storage alloy grain by the process P2.
