PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an empty can recovering device which is miniaturized and reduces volume of empty cans with reduced noise and a small amount of power. SOLUTION: A main body case 1 of this empty can recovering device is provided with a volume reducing means 60 for reducing the volume of the metallic empty can C charged from a can charging port 2 by crushing it. The volume reducing means 60 is composed of a first compaction mechanism 61 for folding the can at its center while conveying the can with a pressing roller 62 and can-center-part pressing roller 63, and a second compaction mechanism 71 for conveying the folded can while compacting the folded can so that its top plate and bottom plate tilt inward.
