PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guideway of a machine tool, which can easily and selectively adjust the high speed ability of a rolling guideway in which the precision of movement is not deteriorated, and the damping ability of a slideway according to aspects of machining and necessity. SOLUTION: In the hybrid guideway, rolling guides 15a, 15b, which form a main guideway serving for a reference plane for straight line motion of a moving body 12 on a base 10 of the machine tool, are combined with slideways 18a, 18b, which form a supplementary guideway serving for supplementing the rolling guides. The hybrid guideway is configured such that it is possible to selectively and easily switched to any one of the hybrid guideway composed of the rolling guideway and the slideway, and the rolling guideway only.
