<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier 2 which can efficiently stick to and collect pollutant SS floating in a precipitation tank 1 and to provide a sewage treating apparatus which can discharge water quickly decontaminated by efficiently utilizing the carrier 2. <P>SOLUTION: The carrier 2 is used in the precipitation tank 1 in which sewage is introduced, pollutant such as sludge is subjected to solid/liquid separation and decontaminated water is guided out, suspended substances SS contained in the sewage are stuck to the carrier 2 and the carrier 2 is formed to a hollow body 21 having a hollow part A inside. The carrier 2 floating in the sewage can be obtained by approximating its specific gravity to that of water owing to balance between an external shell part and an interior hollow part A. Thereby the suspended substances SS can be stuck to the carrier 2 before precipitation and can be removed.
