A cutting head (5) with a rotation symmetrical shape and containing axially and tangentially interspaced cutting tools (17) is mounted in a mobile support frame (4). An imaginary axis for the front mantle of the cutting head extends at right angles to the travelling direction of the frame and at a sharp angle to the plane of the coating (37), so that the cutting head is pressed against the edge of the coating and then moved along it to form an angled cut surface (41).
