PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal power generator which is small-sized and light- weight, portable, low-noise, efficient, less prone to contaminate the environment, and is easy to maintain. SOLUTION: A plurality of sets of sub-modules 11 are series-connected into a ring shape, to constitute a semiconductor converter 2. Each of the sub-modules comprises a pair of a p-type semiconductor device 15 and a n-type semiconductor device 16; and heating and cooling members 13 and 14 of a metal having superior in heat conduction. An inner passage 21 is supplied with a high-temperature exhaust gas. An outer passage 23 is supplied with ordinary-temperature air. The output from the semiconductor converter is supplied to a transformer 41, having a center-tap primary winding 42 by push-pull operation, wherein first and second input switching elements 51 and 52 are alternately turned on and off. The output of the center tap secondary winding 43 is supplied to a pulse-width modulation control circuit 94 of three sets of first and second output switching elements 83 and 84, 85 and 86, and 87 and 88 through a full-wave rectifying circuit 57. Thus, alternating-current power of 50 or 60 Hz is obtained by means of the operation of a pulse-width modulation control circuit 94. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
