<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high capacity, a high output, and excellent safety in addition. <P>SOLUTION: Lead carbonate powder which dissolves in a nonaqueous electrolyte under an excessively charged condition exceeding an upper limit charge voltage of 4.2 V and does not dissolve in a voltage range at the point when a battery is normally used is mixed in a positive electrode active material mixture containing lithium manganate powder, and it is painted on both surfaces of aluminum foil to obtain a positive electrode plate. The average particle diameter of the lead carbonate powder is set at 10 μm which is equivalent to 20% of the thickness of a positive electrode mixture layer painted on the one surface of the aluminum foil, and its mixed quantity to the positive electrode active material mixture is set at 0.1 mol when dischargeable capacitance of the lithium manganate under fully charged condition is 1 F. A negative electrode plate is formed by using graphite as a negative electrode active material to make this nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. Short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes is expedited by a lead ion liquated out under an excessive charged condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
