PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device to which channel switching of each local area is performed automatically. SOLUTION: When turning on a power source, a portable telephone set performs positional registering to a base station and receives positional information received from the base station by a radio processing part 1. A control part 4 collates a local area code to a local area channel storage part 2 on the basis of the positional information received from the base station, and displays a receivable channel on a display 5. When a user selects a desired channel from these displayed channels, the control part 4 controls a television tuner part 3 to switch to the selected channel and displays a television picture broadcasted by this selected channel on the display part 5.
