PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication unit in which some latitude is allowed while saving the communication cost when image selection can be carried out depending on a network being used. SOLUTION: The image communication unit has a part capable of network connection through both dial-up connection and local wireless connection wherein the connection system is selected automatically at a selecting section according to a specified standard. An image to be transmitted can be selected before network connection is made in case of the dial-up connection and the image to be transmitted can be selected after network connection is made in case of the local wireless connection. The image can be selected slowly under connected state in case of the local wireless connection, and the communication cost can be saved by selecting the image before connection is made in case of the dial-up connection.
