Artemin, a neurotrophic factor of the neurturin- persephin-GDNF family of growth factors

An isolated growth factor that comprises an artemin amino acid sequence that promotes survival of trigeminal ganglion neurons. Also disclosed is the use of an artemin polypeptide for providing trophic support to and/or for producing differentiation of a neuron cell in a patient suffering from peripheral neuropathy and other conditions.
