PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding constant velocity joint and its shaft to facilitate the securing of the necessary rigidity of a shaft when the shaft is reduced in size. SOLUTION: The constant velocity joint 1 comprises a cylindrical outer race 2 connected to a differential gear side; a shaft 3 connected to a wheel side and having an end inserted in the outer race 2; and an inner race 4 mounted on the end of the shaft 3. The shaft 3 is coupled to the outer race 2 by the inner race 4 integrally rotatably and slidably along a guide groove 7 formed in the outer race 2 and rockably around the given position of the end on the inner race 4 side of the shaft 3. The shaft 3 comprises a reduction part 9 to reduce the minimum diameter of the shaft 3; and an expansion part 8 to secure rigidity necessary for the shaft 3 by suppressing the lowering of the section modulus of the shaft 3 due to the formation of the reduction part 9.
