PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection method for a columnar steel pipe which can reduce labor and cost for fabricating the columnar steel pipe, which does neither leave traces after a fixture for fixing removed nor impair beautiful appearance, and further, nor bring a thermal deformation of the pipe when attaching the fixture for fixing. SOLUTION: Ring bodies 6 having a multi-split structure are detachably but fixedly fitted to the outer peripheries of the mutually opposite ends of the upper and lower column steel pipes 2 by high strength bolts 9. A plurality of vertically extending vertical plates 7 attached to the upper and lower ring bodies are mutually connected by a connection plate 3 to hold and coaxially fix the upper and lower columnar steel pipes in the butt condition of the respective ends. In this state, the mutual butt ends of the upper and lower pipes are welded together. After that, the high strength bolts are unscrewed, and the ring bodies 6 are respectively removed from the upper and lower columnar steel pipes 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
