PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely start a one-opposite-connected data terminal even if no line call is incoming, without passing through an exchange or over a telephone line. SOLUTION: The remote starting system for remote-starting a data terminal comprises calling signal pattern generators 111, 113, 110, 112, 109 for generating calling signal patterns to send the generated patterns to a one-opposite-connected data terminal, and calling signal detectors 114, 116, 115 for detecting the calling signal patterns generated by the calling signal pattern generators from received data to form calling signals.
