PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming apparatus possess a data related to the characteristics of an optical system unit such as an optical motor and an original platen unit in the medium of an optical motor control software outside a storing area. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a storing medium installed outside an optical motor control CPU, an optical system parameter stored in the medium, a means for making the optical motor control CPU read the parameter and a means for calculating an optical motor control data based on the parameter.
