PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recoil starter capable of precluding a misstarting of an engine resulting from shortage in the power accumulation. SOLUTION: The recoil starter is equipped with a measuring ratchet 23 fed niching in following after the rotation of an input wheel, an initial position energizing means to energize the ratchet 23 to the initial position, and a first 25 and a second ratchet pawl 29 to leave the ratchet 23 in the counting position. When the number of winding turns of a spiral spring for power accumulation has reached the target value, an output wheel 5 is unlocked, and leaving the ratchet 23 by the second ratchet pawl 29 is disengaged. On the other hand, leaving the ratchet 23 by the first pawl 25 is disengaged when pulling a starting rope 10 is started at the time of the next starting operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
