The profiled plate (1) for the covering of roofs of buildings has the profile of a first elbow seam (2) on a hood-type profiled section (2.1,2.2,2.3) and inside this section forming in the longitudinal direction of the seam a first location, and actually on one side of a reference plane extending perpendicularly to the plane of the plate and for locating against a first inclined face (3.3) on the section of the second elbow seam (3) gripped by the first. The first elbow seam on a side of the reference plane facing away from the first locating face forms a second inclined face (7.2) for a second location formed on the part of the second elbow seam gripped by the first. An Independent claim is included for the roof of a building constructed by the use of several profiled plates.
