Dyes are of formula: (where R is H or 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl or 1-4C alkyl subst. aryl residue, X is H, Cl or 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, or aryloxy gp. Y is or H or 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy or aryloxy; and Z is a beta-chloroethyl or 1-4C alkyl gp. R can also be a phenyl residue subst. by 1-4C alkyl gp(s)). The dyes can be prepared by conventional methods and are used to colour and print hydrophobic materials partic. aromatic polyesters, cellulose acetate and triacetylcellulose textiles.
