The screwdriver (1) has a handle (2) with a blind bore containing a spring (18) and having two semicircular cutouts (4,5) accommodating a detent (8,19,20) on the end of the first shaft (6). This arrangement gives two possible length settings for the handle. The end of the shaft remote from the handle is forked. The end of the shaft of the screwdriver blade (12) has a semicircular cutout (14) to accommodate a detent (10,15,16) at the bottom of the space between the two forks (9). A pin (17) engages in bores (11) in the forks and (13) in the shaft of the screwdriver blade to enable it to swivel.
