<p>The sealants consist of equal parts of two components (A) and (B). (A) consists of (by wt.), butyl rubber 18-35%, polyisobutylene 8-20%, polybutene 15-35%, carbon black 0-20%, silica pigment 2-15%, lead dioxide 0.8-3.2%, silica pigment with hydroxl groups 2-4%. (B) consists of butyl rubber 18-35%, polyiosbutylene 10-18%, polybutene 15-35%, silica pigment 2-15%, zinc oxide 5-10%, p-quinone dioxime 0.4-1.6%. The butyl rubber pref. has a mol. wt. over 100,000. The sealant is pref. used in conjunction with a spacer between the glass panes, which it bonds together and hermetically seals. The spacer may be of metal containing a drying agent, or of a flexible water vapour-permeable material containing a dispersed drying agent. The sealants are suitable for making sealed double-glazing units, esp. those of curved or non-rectangular shape.</p> |
