<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a push button type writing utensil, in which whether the exposure of the writing tip of a writing body through the tip opening part of a barrel or not can be judged from the state (or the length) of a push button with no provision of a coiled spring and, at the same time, the jolting of the push button is checked to as small as possible. <P>SOLUTION: In the push button type writing utensil having an extending mechanism comprising a stationary cam, a rotating cam and cam grooves, a rod-like projection, which is inserted in the stationary cam, is formed in the rotating cam. Outwards projecting locking projections are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rod-like projection. Locking step parts capable of abutting against the locking projections are formed at a position, which is ahead of the locking projections on the inner wall surface of the stationary cam or of the push button and locates at a rotatable distance under the state that the rotating cam is separated from the stationary cam and at a separated distance less than the vertical distance between the apex part and the valley part of the engaging part of the rotating cam when the cam projections of the rotating cam are released from the cam grooves through the advancements of the stationary cam and of the rotating cam by the depression of the push button. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
