<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for the sure and efficient rooting of cuttings to produce rooted seedlings, and to provide a rooting chamber assembly suitable for performing the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method comprises the following practice. Cuttings are subjected to low-temperature treatment by keeping them at 1-5°C for 6-21 days in a refrigerator, and then subjected to water absorbing treatment. The lower ends of the resulting cuttings are soaked in an aqueous solution of rooting agent to carry out rooting promotion treatment, and then inserted vertically into a pot with perforated bottom with their lower ends turned downward and set in a receiving basin pooled with water to soak the lower ends in the water penetrated from the basin via the bottom hole of the pot into the pot. The resultant cuttings are then kept for 4-6 days under the irradiation with white light 800-1,200 lux in illuminance for 8-15 h/day in a closed 6-faced box chamber with an atmosphere at 15-30°C and 80-90% RH. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
