PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a small and inexpensive recorder without lowering its inherent performance and to provide the recorder that can perform high speed recording, an information processor, a method of controlling the same, and a program.

SOLUTION: This recorder receives main scanning recording direction information indicative of a recording direction of main scanning of a recording head 104 from a host device 500. Recording data corresponding to the recording direction designated by the main scanning recording direction information generated by the host device 500 is stored in a print buffer 4030. A CPU 402 controls the recording of the recording head 104 according to the main scanning recording direction information and the recording data stored in the print buffer 4030.
