PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure device for an electric resistance welding machine capable of controlling pressure force during welding works in spite of an inexpensive air pressure type device and setting speed control for the rise and fall of an electrode, and a rising position of the electrode. SOLUTION: The pressure device of an electric resistance welding machine pressurizing by means of air pressure comprises a flow control valve 15 arranged on at least one of an air pipe 2 at a head side and an air pipe 4 at a rod side of a pressure cylinder 1, a pressure force measuring element measuring pressure force, a pressure force error detecting function comparing the pressure force measured by the pressure force measuring element and a target valve, and a pressure force controlling function controlling the flow control valve 15 so as to minimize errors detected by the pressure force error detecting function.
