PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting apparatus for a thin metallic strip, where an induction heating coil is wound around the outer circumferential side of a crucible-type molten metal container equipped with a nozzle having a slit at its lower end, and the base part of a tundish, in whose housing the container with the coil is housed, is airtightly sealed except for the slit. SOLUTION: The base part 72 of the tundish 15 is composed of: an inner- circumference-side annular support 73 made of graphite supporting the outer circumference part of a BN nozzle 61 and supporting a jacket 62 for heat insulation; an intermediate annular support 74, made of copper and water-cooled, supporting the outer-circumference-side of the support 73; and an outer- circumference-side annular support 76, made of stainless steel (SUS) and water- cooled, supporting the outer-circumference-side of the support 74. Furthermore, flexible graphite 78 is interposed between the contacting surfaces of each annular support, and the outer-circumference part of the outer-circumference-side annular support 76 is bonded integrally with the lower end part of a side wall 71.
